The Republic is an alliance dedicated to defending our customs and territory from the barbarians that flood the world outside our borders. It is our duty to bring civilization to these beast and establish law and order in their lands through our benevolent rule. All who wish to take on this great burden with me I ask that you assemble your fleets and follow me.

Our government is a traditional republic

principis - head of the Senate
senator - a voting member of the senate
civis - a citizen who may vote on open issues and enjoys full rights
socius - one who has proven themselves loyal to the republic and may one day become a citizen
libertus - one who has been granted freedom so that they may better serve the republic
servus - A barbarian who has yet to throw away his foreign beliefs and accept our customs as superior.

we seek to make treaties with other formal political entities in order to establish mutually beneficial relations.

" ... you assemble your fleets and follow me." Sounds like a good, fair republic with an open senate. Doesn't look totalitarian at ALL.

oh yes its good to see that you understand what a republic is. As every republic that has ever existed has had a military commander in chief. From the ancient roman Consul to the modern us president. you in no way indicated that you were less than fully informed of the structure of a republic.

A Senate votes on treaties and war declarations, where as it is the duty and responsibility of the head to negotiate those treaties and to wage those wars as chief diplomat and commander in chief.

if the citizens of the republic feel that a senator or the head of the senate no longer represent the best interest of the republic they can vote them out and replace them with a new senator that will adhere to them.
