Excellent depth to the tactics....cannot wait to see if these lead to practical tactics

Art is brought to you by Rodrigo Vega, I was the one who made the comic draft in its horrible stick-man form and Rodrigo caste his magic on it. =]

Excellent. Proper player reaction should be able to avoid shockwave damage though. Is there a way to completely power down ships? This would add a great micromanagement ability.

There are 4 critical failures we have attached to hull classes:
Immobile: Ship cannot move for a period of time.
Jamming: Ship cannot fire for a period of time.
Critical: Ship receives a percentage more damage
PowerDown: This one is new, I can't remember exactly what it does, I assume it also involves immobility and jamming.

Some weapons will have attributes to improve the crit failure chance.

The shockwave is instant; however, the ship won't explode right away, you can spot some minor explosions on the ship surface. Weather your units can move fast enough to escape or not is a different question. =P

Ships with zero systems integrity will effectively be dead; without the explosion. The ship will only come back online when repaired by another ship (another player can repair and take ship hulks though). Ships exploding will be less frequent than they are right now, initial battles will result in a junkyard of damaged hulks, players who can fix those can replenish their numbers, the ships will eventually explode as their hull integrity is lowered form damage. Hull integrity is only repairable in a space port.

For now, ship suicide rushing is pretty effective. =P

The fourth condition is a electrical failure. During this time nothing can be used, including utilities and shields. Some utilities may be capable of clearing status effects from themselves or allies, but not in this state.

Volitility of load out eh? I want a cargo ship with big engines, heavy front armor, and loaded with missiles/explosive ordanance as my first wave of attack. Just chuck 'em at people and shout "Shoot 'em, I dare you!"

Kind of a call back to another comic, damaged ship chasing someone 'Blow me up! Shoot me, shoot me!" "No! Go away!" lol. Love it.

Keep in mind, big cargo ships will have sacrificed their space to fit more guns and engines for more cargo space.

That's the point. No weapons, big engines, and lots of explosive ordinance. Kamikaze the front lines!!!

I watched the recording of the live stream and ramming was mentioned as something you are looking into. So I was wondering how that will work with the explosions and shockwaves, will a ship that has been thrown around by a blast damage other ships that it comes into contact with even if those ships were out of the range of the blast, and if so could you just destroy a few ships in an enemy formation than use the damage caused by the collision of those ships to do damage to the whole formation.

I'm just bringing this up because if one large ship was pushed to the side into a few smaller ships would the difference in size have the large ship just steam roll over the small ships?
