I'd like to see cannons pull that trick off!

Cannons can easily blind you if your hit in the eye with shrapnel.

But light can travel through space and windows much easier then shrapnel!

Would you like to participate in a brand new case study I want to commission where you stand behind 1-foot thick glass and i shine a military grade laser at you, and then throw a grenade at you? :-P *evil grin*

If you heat metal enough it will create light, that light works at the same level as beams (high energy particles bouncing around) only not focused at one point unless an explosive is set to focus it.

Did you just invent the laser bomb?

No hes right.

If your metal is heated realllllyy high.
Then it begins to glow red.
If it is heated even higher, the atomic movement increases.
And such the light intesity.

Aka.

The higher the Temperatur of a Substanz, the more Light will be generated from it's Energy.
Chipping away form it's mass what goes away as light+ 90% or so Warmth.

The Sun is one big Example.
Manly Helium and Stuff.

But these are normally not "Lightsources". The reaction and so the high temperature let's light out to us.

Chemistry.. mostly~
If you say otherwise.. you know you'r wrong.. physics are only fairytales..
(Hates Physic Law's .. as Chemical Labtechnican.. so many chances.. so many fails.. because of these..)

When there is a gameplay discussion area, it will need a pinned thread for every weapon, ship etc in which people can state why it is OP!
Monitoring what the leading players are building is the surest way to detect what is actually OP
Even then, people can be strange in their choices......

is the range of missiles greater than the range of beam? and if not, should it be? after all missiles will have there own guidance system, and fuel supply.

it could bring some interesting strategy, about what u lead the charge with. i think u could still make missiles a vary viable option. just by playing with the rang, nerfs/buffs and cool downs.

i love the ideas of cannons being the heavy hitters but only in ideal situations, and i love that beam is a good stable "go to" weapon. but it sounds like u just need to fix the missiles and make shore they have a real place.

I believe missles have the greatest range, not sure since I never saw any ingame.

Missiles have massive range, cannot collide with any unit other than what it targets(can't be hull blocked), and are some of the limited amounts of AoE damage; however, their cooldowns are very high and it is very easy to shoot them down causing them to do nothing.
