Gotcha. I'm refering to this statement:

Some are.

You could have a laser shield, cannon shield, missile shield and true damage invincibility shield all equipped at the same time.
But you can only have 1 active at a time.

That is the end plan we are working towards. Tom / Godhammer has done some work on an AI that could manage it for you.

Quick question for clarification: Are shields currently working in terms of effectively adding defense to a build? It sounds like currently might not. If they do, do they all work, or only some?

Not much of a fan of shields costing supply to use we already have a supply use for weapons and such, plus the shields would be powered by the reactor or whatever source of power the ship has which already uses supply I'm assuming. A shield system where you get a passive resistance to all types some more than others of say 10% maybe more and give the shields a 5% recharge rate.

Shield currently have 30khp right at 5% regen they would get 1,500hp back taking the the gun that does the most damage which is 8k take on the resist would drop it to 7200, essentially with the resist and shield regen the damage would drop the damage done down too 5,700. Obviously would have to play with the numbers to get the right balance but regenerative shields I think would be a better idea. Anyone else agree?

Due to the high variety of components there is a good chance that there will be exactly the shield you want. You will just have to get it ;)
