Does this mean that the Laminar's weapon jamming capabilities effectively have a minimum range?

Nope, this particular ability basically means that when under the effect the target can only fire at the Laminar any other targets have their attack attempt jammed.
Ships can attack from different directions depending on the equipped components, so if the laminar is on one side and weapons are on the other side, those weapons cannot attack another target.

It's essentially a 'taunt' then. You can only target/attack the Laminar and nothing else.

It is a taunt; Nick just hates the use of that in our situation and is trying to come up with a term specific to us.

Right now it is only half a taunt (jamming + can fire at tank) because enforcing full taunt is expensive on a MMORTS with crazy amounts of weapons. However, there is a way for us to do it cheaply; but it will just have to wait for the future when we have time to implement it.

Once done, ships will rotate their bow towards their taunter.
