Czar's idea is also nice, but what happens when you have 1000 units to check ? can you efficiently check the status of your 1000 ships' hulls ?

Why show the healthbar when the ship is at 20%? An easier way for this is a colored dot over the ship. With this you see fast the the ships that are in danger.
