So, essentially that is a "Yes, they have the ability to do so!"

Soo... SWEET! I like having a protective fleet around the carriers as fighters rip things to shreds.

I can wait to see teh Aszendie capital ships.

Makes me think of Enders Game with the fighters defending the capital ship.

Maybe they can form a formation like in Battlestar Galactica shielding vessels from imcoming fighter/bomber and missiles.

I think its better if you can select a ship or a couple of ships that the fighter guard. The same as for bombers to focus an enemy ship.

You're right it would be great rather than only one big group defending a capShip or supercarrier and the possibility to spread out across your fleet.

Another question is deciding if fighter/bomber are useful. How much can you transport and what happens when they are destroyed?
I wouldn't use bomber if i have no resupply of them in combat. For example the bombers kill a ship and 50% of the bomber die in the following shipexplosion.

They will resupply when the land back at their mother ships. But there should be a cooldown to that and then bombers who are on a mission and if their ship gets destroyed, they will fly to the nearest ship to resupply. If you overfill the bomber bays to a limit, you can't launch anymore and you have to bring them back to a planet you own to drop them off (very unlikely).

What about Fighters catching torpedos/rockets to prevent the mothership being hit?
As a matter of fact a missile with enough power to rly hurt a ship such as a destroyer or cruiser (not even spoken about a titan/capital ship) has to have a specific size
to transport the fuel and the actual warhead to it's destination, what would make em a good target for fighter class ships (not close to a ship but outside the range of the anti missle turrets)
