Daniel Cortés

I'm certainly no artist; at least, not one of his caliber.

What happened with Rodrigo? Arent he supposed to be a part of the ship development progress? I dont know who Daniel Cortes is, but i know Rodrigo's skills for game art is unbelievable. And the first Verunas ships were co-designed by him and Phoenix.

Why wouldnt he be included in it?

Any coloured NA image you've seen since 2012 has been Cortez.

I'll just quote here just to get some answers, as i actually dont believe you right now:

So recently we have made a big shift in the development of ships and as a result I've not got much to do for a few days at least so I took the opportunity to work on one of the games other races, the Verunas, a rather big and viscous looking race and their ships needed to show this as well as showing the sense that they are rock hard.

"Working with Rodrigo (the games creative director) we came up with the above style for their ships as well as a detailed breakdown of their design philosophy which I am rather happy with, Rodrigo's main concept was to make them shark like as well as based on several other nasty sea creatures but keeping the very angular and geometric style of their ships."

We have had issues recently with portraying ship scale without having another ship next to it to show how big, or small, it is so this was a chance for me to mess around with some ideas I had to show scale of ships and I think I managed it. Anyway read it and learn for yourself, a lot of attention and love went into these designs, probably my favourite ship style I've done.

This Daniel Cortés, whose name ive barely heard a few times last year year since i joined here, has designed this which obviously seems to be a point you are wrong on, made this concept art which he doesnt seem to have any connection with and went 95% away from for some reason from the result that was revealed last winter.

Few moments after reading you response i went on facebook, wrote a message to Rodrigo Vega and asked him myself if this was true.

His answer was No. Rodrigo Vega and Adam Burn made the concept art ive added to this post.

Give credit where its due. I am not very happy that you actually attempted to credit some person fantastic concept design which he had zero influence about.

Now i can confirm for everyone that the game will not become the way the concept art has hinted for us. No new lore, no new concept design released. I will still be around, but not with the same expectations. It depends on how far off-course you will go from the concept art that pulled us all in and made us intrigued and interested.

Who is in actual charge of lore, art and design in this game currently?

I didn't say Adam did not create that image.
I said all coloured NA images you have seen since 2012 have been from Cortez.
Adam left Taitale after PAX 2012 and Cortez has done all production art and most textures since.

It may not be exact, but he did a fairly good job at translating it into textures; likewise, Alexis did a good job on the models.

Yep. He did a good job. But only with the textures. I will still be hopeful that we will see the originals appear as skins ingame.

Maybe an idea would be to make the old ships of concept art into " Old Verunas Empire" skins.

Anyways i wont derail it anymore. The volatility system that was explained is something that has been talked about for quite some time now.

But last time i was informed Verunas wasnt immune to damage, but only the knockback?

It was mentioned that they would gain a buff. I don't know where exactly tho and my memory + eventual changes that happened to this concept may have messed with me here :P
