The Armadas of the Universe[Information]

Postby Huginn » Sat Feb 01, 2014 6:59 pm

I have decided to make this topic in order to summarize the gameplay styles about every single race in the game, including their pro's and cons. This regards most of the things you will find ingame.

For people wishing more lore on the races and such; i recommend you visiting this page and read up on all the races and subfactions if you feel like it. http://novusaeterno.com/?page_id=46

NOTE: This list will be updated with more and more information as it gets disclosed.

Humans

Humans, a race that is defined as the youngest and least advanced and formidable race in the game. They are extremely adaptable, and quick learners. Thanks to their tenacity, they are a race to be reckoned with.

PRO's:
- Very versatile
- Abundant in ship numbers
- When ships die they deal damage to nearby friendlies or foes; and knocks them back.

CON's:
- Not as advanced as all the other races
- Population growth rate is average
- Research is unpredictable(theories)

The subfaction of the humans are Pirates, Zealots and Survivors.

Verunas

The Verunas, Massive intellectual titans, are the most advanced species in the game at this present time in the Novus Æterno universe. Fielding extremely heavy ships and the strongest weapons the universe can deliver, the verunas had the largest empire covering several galaxies. They have gone so far in research that they cannot go further.

PRO's:
-The most advanced race in the game
- The strongest ship hulls in the game
- The most advanced weapons in the game (Lightslingers)
- Research is random and rewarded through combat
- Ships are immune to Knockbacks and buffs friendlies upon death; but deals damage

CON's:
- Ships are much slower
- Population growth rate is extremely low
- Ship CP cost is expensive, making fleets smaller

The subfactions of the Verunas are the Outcasts, The Savages and the Strangers.

Cauldron Born

The most advanced artificial beings in the universe constructed by the Verunas, that eventually got their independence. Masters of the universe's most sophisticated nanotechnology, they engineered a intergalactic empire that relied on pure objective logic to progress.

PRO's:
- Abundance in ships
- Versatile
- Uses drones instead of fighters and bombers(much more customizeable and versatile)
- Strong repairers (and debuffers maybe?)

CON's:

Unknown at this moment.

Their subfactions are The Broken. The Loyalists, and the Superiors.

The Acean
The oldest race in the galaxy, Aceans are the most advanced biological race. They consist of hives built upon millions of millions of role specific biologically enhanced creatures. Aceans engineer and grow biological specimens capable of space flight, and pretty much any other role one could imagine. They travel the universe to harvest DNA and incorporate into their own, making their research as simple as travelling the galaxy harvesting dna from planets.

PRO's:
- Very large numbers
- Versatile
- Biological weapons (claws, etc)
- DNA harvesting research

CON's:
- lack of ranged weaponry? (not confirmed)

Unknown.

Their subfactions are The Ferals, The Mutants and The Sapients.

The Azsendi

Creatures made of a crystalline-like substance, able to harness and control cosmic energy, allowing them to use it for many things that are beyond the understanding of science. This race is the race with least information.

PRO's
- Unknown

CON's:
- Unknown

The only information about their combat capabilities are telekinetic powers and the ability to summon forth Asteroids or asteroid showers in the midst of combat; Making this race a skill-shot oriented combat race. They will also have their assortment of weird weapons.

Their Subfactions are The Byonders, The Enlightened, and The Heretics.

Fighters & Bombers

Every race has a good assortement of different fighters and bombers. There are however different amounts of squadron numbers for each race. (will build on F&B's when more info is available)

Like mentioned will be built on as more information gets delivered and so on. Hope it helps you give some overview on what the races are capable of and hoping for feedback. Remember to poke me if there's information ive missed (which there pretty much always is) and comment!

The Azsendi is officially spelled as the Azsendi. I asked Nick about it.

By the way, Nick suggested (though not quite enough for me to say 100% for sure) in the stream today that Aceans would have large ships with ranged weapons, but that most of their smaller ships would be kind've kamikaze melee units that are cheap and can swarm a bit.

is the above information all confirmed? I have not heard verunas ships buffed allies when they died or that cauldron born were a "quantity over quality" race. Just curious

also, are humans the only race that operate off of theories? I thought that was universal. I do know Verunas get tech through their honor system but thought they still generated theories

99% confirmed. Verunas are zealous by nature, and this has been mentioned on the livestreams by Nick. Cauldron Born ship numbers are about the same as humans. Every race has their own way of progressing tech, and that is the human way. Verunas gets rewarded tech by fighting. If i had any misinformation im sure sypheria would recorrect.

All ships explode and damage nearby units on death, just Veru'nas get buffed when their own ships die within range. All species have access to wide arrays of fighters. Cauldron-born are not support based. Veru'nas research is not linear.
